Storing data on perfectly designed arrays and servers does not guarantee that as a result of human error, or a disaster (fire, flooding, lightning strike) there will be no loss of part or all of the data in our DC. A backup system is required to secure our data.
Recall that backup, in free translation - backup, is a duplication in a particular state, or one specific moment. The array with RAID protection of a disk group cannot be called a backup. As a rule, we make several backups in daily, weekly, or longer intervals. Backup allows us to "go back in time" with the data to a selected version from the past. Thanks to backups we can protect our data from accidental deletion or from malware that encrypts drives of our servers or computers. The data copied during backup tasks are removed from the repository after a specified period
of time, when we decide that we do not need them, for example, when they are replaced by newer copies.
In contrast to backup, there is the concept of archiving. Archiving is the process of transferring data to another, usually cheaper and slower data carrier, performed for long-term storage. Archives are not automatically deleted in the same way as backups. In most cases, archives are data that are rarely processed and unnecessarily occupy valuable space in the production environment.
There are many systems on the market for making secure backups of our environment, most of them have the deduplication function, which saves space in our repository. We often use solutions that are strongly integrated with the virtualization environment, so that many operations are performed much faster, for example, recovery of a virtual machine by running it directly from the backup, without unnecessary waiting for copying data to the production environment. Another approach, which is becoming more and more common, is integration with cloud services that allow us to store part of the backup copies outside of our server room.
We will be happy to discuss these and many other features with you by performing an initial needs and capabilities analysis.
Sprint S.A. was the first company in Poland to obtain the specialisation of Fortinet Secure SD-WAN under the new Fortinet Engage Partner Program.
We are pleased to announce that Sprint S.A. once again obtained the Gold Partner status of our main provider of server and starage solutions.
Project involved developing WIFI and LAN networks, as well as furnishing classrooms with computers and other necessary devices.
