Intelligent Transportation System
COOPERATION OF MANY SYSTEMS
The ITS system in Bielsko-Biała is based on cooperation of subsystems:
- Traffic control system
- Video monitoring system
- Public transport management system
- Dynamic stop information system
The traffic control subsystem includes 18 intersections with light signals located in the north-south transport corridor. As part of the upgrade, traffic signal heads, booms, and masts were replaced, and new controllers cooperating with the Sprint/ITS/SCATS system were installed and launched. Vehicle detection and classification is provided by inductive loops.
The video surveillance subsystem consists of full HD network IP cameras and analog video detection cameras. The video surveillance system has been integrated with the existing system operating in the Municipal Police. The cameras are also available at the Police Headquarters in Bielsko-Biała.
The public transport management subsystem will ensure supervision and management of public transport vehicles, provide tools for planning, designing and managing timetables, managing rolling stock and enabling the implementation of priorities for public transport vehicles. As part of the project, vehicles of the carrier's fleet were equipped with autocomputers cooperating with the ITS system, as well as with internal LCD monitors for presenting passenger information.
BUS STOP INFORMATION
As part of the dynamic stop information subsystem, passenger information boards have been installed at bus stops (7-line duplex LED boards with 104192 pixel resolution). These boards present the real time of bus arrival and are additionally equipped with devices for voice-reading of arrival information (speech synthesizer) for the visually impaired.
